PM accuses Madhesi parties of deception

ATARIYA (Kailali), Dec 18:Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli accused agitating Madhes based parties of deceiving Madhesi people by continuing protests in Tarai districts. Addressing a mass assembly of the CPN-UML organized at Attariya of Kailali district on Friday, Prime Minister Oli informed that attempts to resolve the current problems of Madhes are underway through talks. “If the talks fail to solve the current crisis, the government will resort to legal actions against the agitating groups which are creating violence,” PM Oli told the mass gathering. The mass assembly attended by UML leaders and cadres from nine districts of the farwestern region was organized in the district with a view to inform the public about the new constitution.PM Oli argued that the constitution has ensured the rights of the Janjatis, Madhesis, Tharus and other marginalized communities. However, several misunderstandings about the constitution have been created among the people. The government is ready to amend the constitution if the amendment can resolve the current crisis, he added. “Lives in Tarai-Madhes have been paralyzed due to four-month-long protest. This is insincerity toward Madhesi people in the name of protest.”
